How to make Perforated Metal Sheets?



The production process of perforated sheet metal is a complex process involving multiple steps that together ensure the quality, precision, and performance of the perforated sheet metal.

The following is a detailed description of the perforated sheet metal production process:


I. Requirements Analysis and Customer Communication


Perforated sheet production begins with a thorough analysis of customer needs. During this phase, the manufacturer must thoroughly communicate with the customer to clarify key information, including the sheet material (such as stainless steel, aluminum, or galvanized sheet), thickness, mesh type (such as round, square, oblong, or hexagonal), aperture size, hole arrangement, sheet dimensions, and precision requirements. This information will serve as the basis for subsequent design and production.


II. Mold Design and Manufacturing


1. Mold Design: Based on customer requirements, our designers will design the overall mold structure, including the upper die (punch), lower die (die), die frame, and guide mechanism. The quality of the mold design directly determines the quality and precision of the punched plate, making this step crucial.

2. Material Selection: We select the appropriate punch material and size to meet the micro-hole layout and punching force requirements. We also procure mold steel (such as tool steel) and die frame materials to ensure mold strength and longevity.

3. Mold Processing: Cutting, milling, and other machining processes are performed on the mold base and other structural components to form the basic shape. Preliminary machining of the punch and die material is performed to allow for subsequent finishing. Afterwards, heat treatments such as quenching and tempering are performed to enhance the mold's hardness and toughness.

4. Precision Machining: High-precision machining methods such as wire cutting and CNC grinding are used to precisely machine the punch and die to ensure accurate micro-hole size and accuracy.


III. Sheet Preparation and Processing


1. Material Preparation: Prepare sheet materials of appropriate specifications and materials, such as stainless steel and aluminum, according to customer requirements.

2. Sheet Cutting: Use specialized cutting equipment to cut the roll of sheet material into the customer's desired dimensions. This step ensures the cut surface is perfectly flat and perpendicular to the surface for subsequent processing.

3. Punching: Place the prepared sheet on the punch press, install the designed die, and begin the punching operation. During the punching process, it is necessary to control the punching force and the gap between the die to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the hole diameter and hole spacing. At the same time, regularly check the wear of the punch and die and replace them promptly to ensure production quality.


IV. Subsequent Processing


1. Leveling: The sheet metal may deform after punching, so it requires leveling. The purpose of leveling is to eliminate deformation and restore the sheet metal to a flat state to ensure quality during subsequent processing and use. Leveling can be performed mechanically or manually.

2. Degreasing and Cleaning: The punching process may generate oil and impurities, so the punched sheet metal requires degreasing and cleaning to ensure product cleanliness.

3. Further processing: According to customer needs, the perforated plate can be further processed, such as bending, curling, welding, etc. These treatments can increase the practicality and aesthetics of the perforated plate.



V. Quality Inspection and Packaging


1. Quality Inspection: Perforated sheets undergo quality inspection, including dimensional accuracy, aperture accuracy, and flatness. This ensures compliance with relevant standards and customer requirements.

2. Packaging: Qualified products are packaged to prevent damage and scratches during transportation and storage. Inspection reports and user manuals are also included with packaging.
